A new study shows health care cost savings are possible by treating and managing gum disease.
From PR Newswire… The American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM) recently published a study from United Concordia Dental that shows reduced hospitalizations and health care costs are possible when individuals with certain chronic conditions, or who are pregnant receive and maintain treatment for gum disease.

The study connected the dots between patients who had medical insurance and dental coverage along with existing gum disease. They would have also had another condition – type 2 diabetes, cerebral vascular disease, coronary artery disease and/ or pregnancy.
The study found that treating gum disease was associated with “statistically significant decreases in annual medical costs” for each of the conditions.
That’s good news for our patients in Ft. Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach, many of whom are conscious of personal healthcare costs and potential hospitalizations.
