If your Ft. Lauderdale periodontist or dentist tells you you’re a good candidate for getting dental implants to replace damaged or missing teeth, you may simultaneously feel elated and a bit worried.
Elated because there is a real solution for you that will help fix your smile. Your smile will look better and you’ll be able to chew normally.
Worried because the thought of a getting dental implants may sound like potentially painful surgical procedure. We talk to patients all the time who were worried, scared or upset prior to learning more about the new ways in which dental implants are done by Dr. DeTure at his Ft. Lauderdale office.
At the Broward Center for Laser Periodontics and Implants, Dr. Nick DeTure and his staff are using the latest technology to make dental implant procedures essentially ‘pain-free’ for patients.
This is a big change from the ‘old days’ when the prospect of getting implants would deter patients from taking action. Things are different now as advances in periodontal procedures have made the overall experience for the patient tremendously better, easier, more accurate and relatively pain free.
In fact, 50% of our patients get their dental implants with just numbing around the area that’s being worked on (and without being sedated). We do provide sedation dentistry as needed for our patients who are uncomfortable, however. Some patients go back to work the same day.
Using 3-D technology and imaging, we virtually map out your procedure ahead of time. We can understand the bone structure of your mouth and outline a plan for installing the implants. Essentially, we walk through your entire surgery, from initial X-rays through to completion before we even start.
What does that mean for you, our patient? It means that dental implants are no longer a blind procedure. In the old days (which was not that long ago really), specialists didn’t know exactly what they were getting into before starting surgery.
“But by using new technology, our office can offer faster healing, less downtime, less post-operative pain, better placement of the implants and more accuracy. That means a better, more natural end results so people don’t know you have dental implants. That’s great for you and great for all of our patients!”
